Thoughts on my WFH setup

Last week I read this article about building a minimalist desk setup. It got me thinking about my desk, which is currently slotted between the sliding window to our back porch (read: great views and excellent lighting {during the day}) and the entertainment center (read: easily distracted) in our living room. In a perfect world I would like to have a desk that is about 12-18 inches longer as I am a little cramped right now.

A few things from the article that stuck out to me were adding some greenery, choose your colors wisely, and improving the audioscape.

To address the first I ordered the Lego bonsai tree and while it will not clean the air for me it is made from plant based plastics, which is pretty cool IMHO. But where am I going to put it? So, I got thinking that everything on my desk should serve a purpose and if I do not use it regularly it should not be on my desk... Ahaha ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ญ๐Ÿ’กโ€ผ๏ธ Currently my left monitor is propped on top of a stack of medical books my wife does not currently need. Wasted space and it is a few inches too short. So, I ordered an adjustable monitor stand that will add some necessary real estate back to my desk.

To add a little color and character to my desk I put up a Ski Journal poster of an astronaut skiing down a rocky couloir. I am obsessed with space and skiing, and so the the poster reminds me daily to never let go of my dreams no matter how far fetched they seem in the moment.

Lastly, I repaired my Oppo PM-3 headphones (the headband and ear pads were disintegrating) and hooked up my Oppo HA-2DSE (Portable Headphone Amplifier and DAC) to my CalDigit TS3+. Now my audio experience is down right spectacular and oftentimes I find it hard to peel myself away from the desk as my music has come alive in ways I never could have imagined. I am always experimenting with new playlists but in the end I keep coming back to this playlist:

So, what have you done to your WFH setup during the pandemic?
